I can truly relate to this story as my grandmother had this until she died in 1997. Back then it was hard to say what caused it or what to do about it, in my case to help my grandma.

Suzanne, I meant to add that making some of my Mom’s favorite recipes is a way that I like to stay close to her. I wish I could find her recipe for Mexican Wedding Cakes — small round shortbread/nutty cookies with powdered sugar outside them. Debbie

Suzanne, This recipe sounds delicious. I have a low carb eater in the family so I think I’m going to make 2 versions — the original and one made with mashed up cauliflower. I’ll let you know how it works.

Suzanne - I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom. The holidays were so tough for me, too, in the years following my dad’s death. That’s wonderful you can remember her through her recipes and fond memories of entertaining at this time of year. Blessings on you and yours in 2010.

I wish I had read your blog two days ago! Recovering from a year in which neither my husband nor I had predictable income (he is newly self-employed), I can certainly attest to the confidence that comes with sound financial planning. We never would have made it if we hadn’t practiced some sound management years ago.
